If you travel 8.6 miles down Highway 155 from Dayton Street in Omak, you will come to the Haley Creek area. This region was not only faced heavy destruction from the 2015 Tunk Block Fire, but it also suffered from severe flooding the following spring. Multiple homes were burned from the fires or washed out by the floods. Roads were also heavily impacted. Entire roads and bridges were washed out in the spring of 2016, making travel in or out of the area nearly impossible until the roads were repaired. Haley Creek happens to be one of the areas near Omak that experienced the worst of the spring floods.
